Seen
on the Island of La Gomera

There,
one will find the pretty village of Agulo and I am sure with many citizens
who have animals and take proper, loving care of them with no problems.
Unfortunately, there is also one dog owner in this village that does
not care very much for his animals.
In
the middle of the picture, along the wall between the two green fields, is a
shed in which dogs are kept.

This
is what that shed looks like a little closer up.
Looking from the left one can see a female dog, alone.
Directly to the right is another enclosure with another female dog,
also alone. Further to the
right in the smaller hut are three puppies, two small brown and a larger
tan. All hunting dogs.

Here
are how the sheds look close up........

The two
females.....
The
Police have been informed about these dogs and will look into it directly
and determine what should be done.
One
should remember that even with these pictures it is perhaps hard to believe
that this is really the exception here rather than the rule. Animal abuse is not normal and not condoned on La Gomera and
this dog owner will not escape some punishment.
The
"SEPRANO" (Nature Police), which is responsible for policing such
problems, works very closely with the local Animal Protection Association,
Pro Animal Gomera (PAG), and is very interested in stopping such abuses.
We
will update this as we get anything new...
